GAAH! I smell like an old lady! Got any advice?

I have this body lotion that I use, it's fruity scented. I only use a little, (like the size of a dime for both my arms and legs). My friend then told me I was giving him a headache >.< Then my mother gave me Clinique perfume. But apparently, now I smell like an old lady. DO'H!

I have problems getting scents to smell right on me. Other people can wear the exact same product and smell entirely different than I do. Just so I can have a better idea of what scent might work better for you personally, do you mind telling me which Clinique perfume you are referring to and what lotion and what type of fruit was your lotion scented like? Also, another thing to consider (especially in the case of the friend telling you your lotion gave him headache) is that some people are just really sensitive to fragrances, so his reaction may be more of a reflection on him than you. I have a lotion that my ex-boss HATED, but everyone else I've ever met LOVED it! Anyway, with a little more info I'd be glad to share more of what I've learned since I've had this problem too!

**EDIT** I wouldn't worry about the Midnight Pomegranate because it is considered one of Bath & Body Works more "sensual" and "rich" scents. If no one else has complained, I would assume in this case he is just too sensitive to the smell like my ex-boss was. If you are still worried about it, you could use half the amount you normally use and mix it with an unscented lotion before you put it on to weaken the smell around him.

As for Clinique Happy, that's one I can't wear either and it makes me smell old too, while it smells great on everyone else! Clinique Happy Heart for some reason smells BETTER on me than on other people, and I always get complimented on it. It is a bit more floral than Happy though, so it may not be considered "clean or fresh-smelling". I've found that some of the Victoria's Secret fragrances smell clean and fresh on me, so they might work for you - but try them in the store first to be sure (or maybe they'll have a sample giveaway like they did last Christmas which is when I got my set). I had luck with Desire, Heavenly, and Halo from the VS Dream Angels collection and also Very Sexy and Pink by Victoria's Secret. Hope this helps! I know how hard it is to find the right perfume!
